Caring Is A Gesture Of Love. Basic Steps to rescue an orphaned joey

Suppose you are going on a trip with your buddies in your car and enjoying the roadside views to the fullest. Witnessing the beautiful views you all are lost in nature. While enjoying the nature’s beauty all of the sudden you hit a female roo. What will you do? Many people do not care about those animals who get hit by their car they do not even care if the animal has got hurt or not. But you are not one of them. You believe in caring to show that the animals also deserve the same caring and love as much as we humans need.

After hitting the female kangaroo you may see that doe is hurt so badly and there is no hospital around to take her to the hospital. It is impossible for you to save her but make sure that you save the baby kangaroo sleeping inside the pouch of her mother. For that, you need to check the mother’s pouch if there is a joey inside or not?  If it is there and you want to help that baby kangaroo you need to take him/her out of the pouch carefully.

Some Basic Facts Steps To Rescue An Orphaned Joey:
1.    If you see an injured or dead kangaroo on a roadside. Check the kangaroo whether he/she has survived or not. If you see that the kangaroo is a female and is dead but the joey inside the pouch of the mother has survived, you need to take that baby kangaroo out of the pouch.

2.    The baby kangaroo can survive in the pouch for 72 hours after the mother dies.

3.    You have to be very gentle while taking out the Joey from the pouch. To take out the young one is a challenging task as they are attached to their mother’s teat. If the Joey is attached to the teat you need to cut the teat but do not remove the teat from the Joey’s mouth. The young one will release the teat in some time. If not attached you need to put the hand till the tail of the body but be polite in action to safely take out the baby kangaroo.

4.    Make sure to keep them in a warm condition. Wrap them in a cloth and place them near your body. The young one needs body warmth to survive.

5.    Do not feed anything. It is a wise decision to not to feed the little one.

These are the basic things to rescue a little lovable kangaroo. One important thing to remember is to call the wildlife organization or any nearby animal institution to save the Joey.
